About

We're building the future of youth combat robotics - accessible, student-driven, and designed for the next generation of engineers.

What We're Building

Impact Robotics League is creating a new model for youth combat robotics. Students compete with one-pound "plastic antweight" robots in fast-paced tournaments that emphasize innovation, accessibility, and real engineering skills.

Our first official event, Fall Brawl, launches October 25, 2025 at Sierra College. We're planning 4-5 events in our inaugural season, culminating in a Northern California championship. This is just the beginning.

Leadership

Kevin Miller is Executive Director of Placer Robotics and CEO of the Impact Robotics League. A founding board member since 2018—when his son Kyle launched the organization—Kevin has continued mentoring and supporting youth robotics programs across the region. He now focuses on building accessible, student-driven competitions and open platforms that lower the barriers to entry.

Connection to Placer Robotics

Impact Robotics League is operated in partnership with Placer Robotics, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2018. Placer Robotics has been running youth combat robotics programs and tournaments in Northern California since 2020, including Sacramento Bot Battles and the California 15lb Combat Championships.

Placer Robotics currently supports about 200 families annually across their various robotics programs. Impact Robotics League focuses specifically on the plastic antweight competition format for middle and high school students.
